    Rish vs. Facebook

Post by Rishalicious on Tue Mar 16, 2010 4:33 am

On Friday evening at about 7pm, I decided to browse away from the popular internet social networking website, Facebook, to conduct other matters of interest. This may have included tweeting, or watching some pronography (it did not include watching some pornography) or maybe even checking out the wonderful Wrestle Connect. About an hour later, I was thinking "oh, I haven't checked my Facebook in a while, maybe I have some new notifications or something!" So I went back to check, full of gleeful optimism. The website loads, and I appear to be signed out. I just thought that Firefox might have cleared my cache/cookies/browsing history without my knowing, so I simply attempted to login. When I hit enter, the page loaded, but not the page I expected. It went back to the same page, asking for my login details, but telling me that MY ACCOUNT HAS BEEN DISABLED.

"Oh my" I though, as if I were Michael Cole. I tried to login several times, but consistently had this message staring me in the face. So I went to check my emails to see if they had sent me anything to explain this crazy error. Which they had.

    Hi Rishaad,

Your account has been temporarily suspended for security purposes. Our systems indicate that your Facebook account has been compromised by cybercriminals attempting to impersonate you. These criminals often will try to trick your friends into sending them money by claiming that you are stuck in a far away location and need assistance. It is possible that your email account was compromised as well. As such, we have sent this email to all email accounts recently associated with your account. Obtaining access to a victim's email is one of the primary ways these cybercriminals have been operating. Please take the following steps to regain control of your account:

    1. Select new, unique passwords for any email addresses associated with your Facebook account.

    2. Respond to this email with the answer to your security question:
What is your mother's maiden name?

    3. Closely follow the instructions provided in our follow up email. We also encourage you to visit the following page for more information about Facebook security and how to report suspicious material: http://www.facebook.com/security

    Thanks,
    Facebook Security

How dare you, you cyber criminals. I am not stuck in any far away place and in need of money. How dare you try and deceive my poor friends into thinking this. You are not me and my friends would never fool for it!

But fair enough. Like I imagined, I hadn't done anything and it was simply a missunderstanding. It seems fairly simple to resolve this issue, I just have to email them and follow the instructions in the follow up email I would likely receive immediately.

Only, I did not receive an email immediately. In fact, I have yet to receive any reply from Facebook. And don't think that it could be a little case of my email not sending or something, because I have replied to that email 4 times and personally emailed disabled@facebook.com / appeals@facebook.com / login@facebook.com / info@facebook.com / privacy@facebook.com just as many times and maybe even more with an intelligent and professional explanation of the situation basically asking for a response ASAP in order to resolve the issue and have my account enabled. But of course, I have received no response.

I have done nothing wrong. Facebook have admitted that to me. Yet they refuse to actually resolve anything about it. They do not care that I've had my account almost 3 years with no previous signs of bad behavior. They do not care about my 300+ friends, some of which are on here. They do not care about my 500+ tagged photo's that cannot be viewed by my 300+ friends anymore. Whoever the Tom equivalent on Facebook is, this evil man/woman/EMOTIONLESS ROBOT will not get away with it.

I hope you are on my side. If you are, let's take it to Facebook, that stupid book of faces that no longer includes mine. I have read similar stories on the internet and people created groups on the website and had people emailing to Facebook explaining how that person had their account innocently disabled and why that person should have their account enabled and it actually worked.

So I'm asking you guys, my best friends on a wrestling orientated forum called Wrestle Connect, to email Facebook and ask them to enable my account as it has been innocently and mistakenly disabled (WHICH THEY HAVE ADMITTED TO ME). I advise you email either disabled@facebook.com -or- appeals@facebook.com with your sympathetic plea's and include the email associated with my Facebook account (freakystyley@themvzone.com) in the title of your email followed by maybe "account disabled by mistake" or even "MOTHERFUCKING REINSTATE THIS ACCOUNT MOTHERFUCKER". Either would be professional enough.

Seriously, if you do this I'd be so honestly grateful and appreciative. They stories I read of this all ended in success so I could only imagine you'd be helping my cause. I just don't like to be punished for something I've not done and for people to blatently ignore me for so long.

How do we know this is really Rish and not someone trying to impersonate him?

I have not tried to convince you that he...I am in a far away country (although I guess the UK is far away from America Razz) and ask for your money. Only for the sending an email that will cost you 1 minute of your time, which converted into currency, is nothing.

    Hello,

My friend Rishaad was telling me about how his account was disabled for some reason. I assure you he is a good dude and not some sort of cyber criminal. Please enable his account so I, and all his other friends, can once again enjoy his presence on Facebook.

    Thanks,
    Matt

After all this you better add me when you get your account back.

I think it might have something to do with your email being attached to TheMVZone.com something could have happened when the site have viruses all over it.

Also I hope I sent enough money to get you back home safely.

THEY JUST DON'T CARE SWARLES Sad Thanks a lot though man, at least you got some kind of automated response. And for sure you'll be added if you let me know your profile.

And yeah, that could be true. Weird it would happen now, 2 months after it got infected, but you never know.

What email address are you getting responses from? It's weird they'd email you but not me Sad

Oh really? Well that makes things a little better. I don't think it's happened to any of my friends but I really wouldn't know.

    PERSISTANCE PAYS OFF!

    Hi Rishaad,

We have changed your password and, if necessary, restored your contact email address. Please click the link below to generate a new password for your account:

    ------------------------------------------------------

If you did not already receive a security alert from Facebook, please review the following information.

Our systems indicate that your Facebook account has been compromised by cybercriminals attempting to impersonate you. These criminals often will try to trick your friends into sending them money by claiming that you are stuck in a far away location and in need of assistance. It is possible that your email account was compromised as well, as obtaining access to a victim’s email is one of the primary ways these cybercriminals have been operating. Please take the following steps to ensure the security of your Facebook account going forward:

    1. Select a new, unique password for any email address associated with your account, making sure to avoid using the same password for any account.

    2. Verify that you control all of the email addresses associated with your account on the Contact Email section at:

    https://www.facebook.com/editaccount.php

    3. If you have not done so already, please add a security question to your account from the Account Settings page.

    4. Visit the following page for more information about Facebook security and how to report suspicious material:

Finally, if you think you have been victimized by fraud, you can report this to Western Union's fraud hotline by calling 1-800-448-1492.
